Perhaps they really did have magical powers in the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, but just had some trouble writing it down properly (wonder why…)

Jamie Waylett, teenage actor starring in the Harry Potter films has, according to British police, been charged with illegally growing 10 cannabis plants.

I think that this finally answers a lot of the questions about why these kids did so well playing wizards in a fantasy land.

Waylett appears as the overweight side-kick of villan Draco Malfoy in all of the Harry Potter films including the sixth film, being released this week “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”.

Possibly, we might suggest from his character in the Potter films that he will use the defence that he needed to bulk up for the movies and that the cannabil was required to give him the munchies.

The pre-release buzz over Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has suggested that this movie will add to the already bulging box office receipts box (currently around $US4.5billion).

With the new movie opening around the world this month, it has already had its fair share of press coverage with the London world premier as well as one of the main actors, Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley contracting Swine Flu but still managing to make the premier and walk down the red carpet along side co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, and Emma Watson, who is better known to Potter fans as Hermione Granger.

All the excitement will come to an end however in 2011 when the final film is released, capping an extremely successful project for author J.K.Rowling.

And I am sure when it is all said and done, in years to come, Jamie Waylett can sit around and smoke his cannabis and tell some interesting stories about Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stoned……
