Charli Howard is an advocate for body positivity who proudly shares completely unretouched photos of herself to her 100,000+ Instagram followers. After experiencing body shaming as a model, this Brit set out on a mission to rewrite the fashion industry’s beauty standards. Now, her philosophy has manifested into a book, titled MISFIT, which details her battle with body image in hopes of inspiring others to embrace their own bodies. Along with being an accomplished model and now author, Charli also uses her platform to run a charity called All Woman Project, which aims to promote health and confidence by creating unretouched campaigns. Is there anything she can’t do? “Whistle,” she says. “Never have been able to, never will.” Ready to see how this goddess ends her busy days of changing beauty standards? Check out her nightly routine below.
6 P.M. Depending on my daily schedule, I’m either on the subway coming home at this time, mid-flight or have just gotten home. Every day is different, but I’m definitely a home bird and like to be at home by this time to avoid rush hour!
6:30 P.M. Before I properly relax for the evening, I do my skin care routine. I have acne-prone skin and so the sooner I deal with it, the better. I cleanse my face with a perfume-free cleanser (Bioderma) then again with a cleansing oil (Babor facial oil). I tone with Pixi Toner. Then I jump in the shower and freshen myself up, ready to settle down for the evening in my favourite and most comfy Reformation pyjamas!
6:45 P.M. Just before 7, I begin cooking dinner. I like to mix it up during the week and keep it interesting, like trying new recipes and experimenting with food – cauliflower pizzas, spicy curries or healthy chicken dishes. I like to eat relatively early so that I sleep better and don’t feel bloated in the morning.
8 P.M. I am probably watching TV right now. I have an unhealthy obsession with Family Guy. I also re-read emails I may have missed, or try and answer DMs on Instagram from girls who need help or may be struggling.
9 P.M I like to try and put my phone down. I’m getting better at it, but putting your phone down is actually quite tricky when you rely on it for work (and I am a workaholic). I’ll chat to my boyfriend and try to relax. Also, if I go on my phone at this time, I’ll stay awake for ages!
10:30 P.M. I am not a morning person AT ALL so I try to go to bed no later than 10:30/11 to feel a bit fresher in the mornings. I know, what a grandma! (Even my grandma stays up past midnight every night!)
