Job Title: Digital Media Assistant
Years of Experience: 1

What does your job title mean? What does your job entail?
Even though my title is “assistant,” I don’t go out and get coffee or answer the phones (well, okay, I do answer the phone when it’s a client or a digital vendor calling). My job pretty much entails assisting all the media planners/buyers in my agency with the digital verticals. I buy the digital ad space (social media, music streaming sites, apps, connected TVs, etc.) for our clients and then work with the digital vendor and client to make sure that the client is completely happy with how their ad will look. I then get all the artwork, audio and measurements (how many times the ad was clicked, seen, etc.) trafficked to the vendor so that the ad can go live. Then, I get reports on how the ad is doing so the client and I can figure out what is working and what is not working.
When do you wake up?
I usually wake up around 6am so I can get a workout in while I listen to a podcast and drink my smoothie.
At 9am I am…
This is the time when my work day begins. I get into work at 9am and immediately check my emails and calendar to see what meetings I have or if anything is due.
At 11am I am…
Usually coming out of a meeting with a client or vendor, or I am working on sending out traffic for an ad campaign. What I like about my job is that it’s not the same thing every day.
What does lunch normally look like for you?
Honestly, some days I am able to walk over to Whole Foods and grab a salad and other days, I am lucky if I was able to eat some almonds. If I do have a meeting with a client or vendor in the afternoon, we are either out getting lunch or they bring in lunch — which I usually end up ordering a salad or grilled fish.
At 1pm I am…
It depends — I could be having lunch, meeting with a client, discussing strategies with my boss or working on something for the client. Like I said, my job is never the same but I love it that way.
At 3pm I am…
This is the time that I usually end my work day. If I am waiting on something for the client or if something is due that day or the next day, I either stay late in the office or bring my work home.
At 5pm I am…
Either finishing up some work at home or taking a walk with my dogs before making dinner.
How does a workday end for you? What time do you normally leave work?
I leave the office around 3ish and get home around 4.
What do you do after work?
I usually make something quick at home like a salad or veggie bowl, but if it’s the weekend then I am out meeting friends for drinks.
What do you do before bed?
Before I go to bed, I ALWAYS have to do my nighttime routine. I take my makeup off, put on a face mask, light a candle and sip my magnesium tea while either reading or watching Netflix and I usually end up falling asleep at 11.
Is there anything about your job you’d like people to know?
Starting out as an assistant can be more than just getting coffee or handling someone else’s schedules–it’s a major learning situation. I am so thankful that I am able to have “multiple hats” and learn it all, because having each day never be the same from the previous day makes it fun and interesting.
