Natalie Uhling is the creator of her own fitness method, NUFit, a 60-minute full-body workout that fuses the best elements of cardio and spot toning–while also leaving time for mindfulness. Each class is not only known for building long, lean bodies, but also for its focus on self-love and empowerment. In addition to being a fitness expert, Natalie is also a new mom, who gave birth to a baby girl just a few weeks ago. Below, this wellness guru tells us everything she eats–including a healthy breakfast smoothie full of ingredients that will make your skin glow.

Breakfast

What I eat: Smoothie + an avocado.
The time I eat it: 7 A.M.
How I make it or where I get it: Smoothie–handful of kale, handful of spinach, ½ frozen banana, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 scoop of Garden of Life Protein, 1 scoop of Vital Proteins collagen, 1 scoop of Super Greens, 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk and bee pollen on top. Then, one organic whole avocado.

Snack

What I eat: A handful of cashews, when I do. But, to be honest I actually don’t snack often. I like eating a couple of meals a day and that’s it. Grazing all day has never worked for me and it actually makes me feel bloated and tired. Right now I am eating a few healthy high-fat snacks because I am breastfeeding, but otherwise I don’t snack.
The time I ate it: 11 A.M.
How I made it: I bought them from Whole Foods.

Lunch

What I eat: Chopped Salad with a fried egg on top.
The time I eat it: 1:30 P.M.
How I make it or where I get it: Vert Kitchen. One of my favorite organic restaurants here in Denver, CO.

Dinner

What I eat: Wild caught salmon, a kale salad and grilled corn. I also always have dark chocolate or a couple bites of a cookie at the end of dinner.
The time I eat it: 5:30 P.M.
How I make it or where I get it: Bought from Whole Foods. Salmon is so easy! Simply place salmon on the aluminum foil with a little olive oil, lemon and dill. Fold up the edges and place on the grill. This literally takes 10 minutes and it’s ready to go.
Kale Salad-Chop up the kale with carrots and place in a plastic bag. Once in plastic bag add almond oil, dash of sea salt and chopped cashews. Once all ingredients are in the bag, start to massage everything together. Kale can be tough so after you massage it for a bit it’s easy to digest and tastes delicious too! Finally, I love topping this salad off with parmesan cheese. It just gives the salad that extra creamy kick.
Grilled Corn-Literally just place the corn on the grill! Once it’s on for about 5 minutes, remove and husk. So easy and perfect for the summer!

Workout

Workout I did: NUFit Tone-Since I am not fully cleared to work out post-baby, I am doing a ton of gentle toning exercises mainly focused on my lower body. Nothing too crazy just slowly getting my muscles engaged/ thinking again.
The time I do it: 9 A.M.

Overall thoughts about your day today and how you feel

I feel good except for the lack of sleep! Having a newborn is no joke!! I am up every three hours at night feeding. Since I am lacking in the sleep department it is so important for me to eat right and move my body. I feel so much better when I can get those simple things done. I feel like my brain fog is not as bad when I eat right and exercise too.

What are other wellness activities or habits that make you feel like your best self?

For me, it’s getting outside and getting my feet on some grass! With a new baby it’s necessary to get outside at least once a day. I feel like a normal human when I do just that. Also, I take a bath every night…it is my only alone time so I really look forward to that chill time. It’s super important for me to shut down after being on all day.

Anything else you’d like to add

Don’t let food control your life. Simply think of food as a huge source of energy and life source. Once you train yourself to think like that you become free! And lastly…always eat the dessert! Life is way too short!
