Age: 25
City: San Francisco
Industry: Strategic Communications
Job Title: Executive Assistant
Years of Experience: 2
Salary: $80,000
What does your job title mean?
I’m the executive assistant for two partners, and my duties include scheduling, managing calendars, planning travel, personal errands and managing the office.
What is your morning routine?
I wake up at 5:40am every morning to get to a 6:00am workout class (hot pilates is my fav) or go for a run then I come home, make hot lemon water w/ cayenne + ACV, shower, get ready, try and blow out my hair, and leave my apt by 8:15am.
At 9am I am…
Getting settled at my desk, just made my matcha + water + collagen drink and am building out my to-do list for the day.
At 11am I am…
Wrapping up any urgent tasks for the day and checking in with one of my bosses on their needs.
What does lunch normally look like for you?
I eat some variation of the same salad at my desk every day. I don’t mind that it is the same but wish I got outside more during the day.
At 1pm I am…
Typically eating lunch around now.
At 3pm I am…
Making last-minute confirmations and scheduling for my boss on the east coast and afternoon organization for the SF boss.
At 5pm I am…
Meeting with my boss to go over upcoming travel, meetings, and events and trying to wrap up any last minute tasks.
When does a workday end for you?
Around 6pm everyday.
What do you do after work?
I walk to/from work so typically I walk home listening to a podcast and then either make dinner with my roommate and watch a show (currently on a Handmaid’s Tale bender) or get ready for a date. Single and think I have dated almost every guy in SF. Occasionally I will need to do last minute schedule or travel changes for work at night but it’s typically pretty quiet.
What do you do before bed?
I went through a phase of very terrible sleep and insomnia so I take my nighttime routine VERY seriously. I always drink some kind of tea / hot drink to soothe my stomach and relax, then I double wash my face and use Biologique Recherche p50 lotion that has changed my skin. I’m obsessed with Marie Veronique oils and don’t F with lotions anymore, gimme all the oils. I put my hair in a bun with a scrunchy to hopefully preserve my blow out, put some kind of lip treatment (currently love the Laneige slip mask), turn on my fan (street noise is my enemy) and if I have lots of time before 10pm, I will read a few chapters of a book, currently into the Filthy Rich Asians series, if it’s past 10pm, I put on a sleep meditation from Digipill, slip on my eye mask and count sheep until I fall asleep.
Is there anything about your job you’d like people to know?
Sounds easy and yes the tasks of an executive assistant can be but the MENTAL strength to do this every day and deal with difficult people is the most challenging part.
