She wants you to let it go. (Sorry.) As a Hollywood star, a mom of two, and a frequent guest on her husband Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair ExpertKristen Bell is already really busy. But when she discovered the skincare benefits of CBD, she knew she had to make room for one more big project: A line of personal care products inspired by her hectic (but awesome) life, and created to make everyone feel a little better about… well… everything.

Enter Happy Dance, a trio of CBD-infused body care products created to help women relax and recharge. The line is made with natural ingredients, and gives a percentage of proceeds to A New Way of Life, which helps women transition from prison into civilian life with education, housing, and emotional support. Here’s how Kristen gets through her evenings, with a little help from Happy Dance... and also, a surprisingly suspenseful podcast.

How does Happy Dance play into your own preferred methods of self-care?
Because they serve as the ultimate daily pick-me-ups! I use the Happy Dance Whipped CBD Body Butter every morning after I get out of the shower.  I love that the scent doesn’t compete with anything else I’m applying throughout the day and the texture is delightful. I chose bright packaging because it puts me in a good head space from the moment I start my day. And after a stressful day, I apply the Head-to-Toe CBD Coconut Melt as a back or shoulder rub. It feels like the meditation I don’t have time for, and helps me unwind.

True or false: your skincare routine has a CBD element?
I’ve been using the Lord Jones High CBD Body Lotion for years, which I discovered through my amazing hair stylist Jenny Cho. I have been very into Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer as my nighttime facial moisturizer. I love how light yet rich the formula is and that it’s packed with ceramides. My skin is incredibly sensitive, and I find it to be incredibly soothing. Before bed, I also enjoy using a dropper of hemp-derived CBD Tincture.

Pandemic parenting is chaos. How do you let your family know you need five minutes to yourself?
The bathtub has become my escape within my house to enjoy the feeling of hearing myself think. When you have kids, it’s almost impossible to close a door. You never know when someone might need you! Ironically, this has been the perfect time to finalize our Happy Dance CBD skin care product formulations. I’ve really enjoyed taking my alone time to test them… That counts as work, right?

There are two schools of bath self-care: Scalding hot and freezing cold. Which are you?
Scalding hot!

You’ve said mental health should be talked about as much as the weather. (Amen!) Do you prefer to check in with friends and family via text about how they’re feeling, or is mental health something that really needs to be discussed in person?
I always prefer in person communication. For me, so much gets lost in translation over text and you don’t get to sense people’s energy.

What show or podcast are you watching or listening to right before bed?
Rabbit Hole!

On an ideal day of self-care, when do you go to sleep?
Preferably at 3 P.M. I’m barely kidding. I love sleep. Realistically, it’s between 10 P.M. and 11 P.M.
