She ain’t afraid of no ghost.
Well, not in her new mini series Boo, Bitch, anyway. (Which drops on Netflix today!) Zoe Colletti plays Gia, BFF to Erika Vu (Lana Condor), who winds up as a ghost after having one killer—too much?—night before graduating high school.
Here, she opens up in an Only Murders in the Building-style interrogation (where you’ll see Zoe v soon) and talks about her supernatural experience on set, plus a newfound fear that we accidentally gave her. 🤭
You’re about to make your Only Murders debut. Would you ever live in an apartment building where a murder took place IRL?
It really depends. I’m a huge fan of watching spooky and scary stuff. But ever since I was little, and still to this day, I have to sleep with a light on in my room because I’m the biggest baby. So I’d love to say that I would live in a place where someone died, but I don’t think I would sleep from the moment I moved in. But, if it was a really great apartment and was not that expensive, then I might have to just take the deal. Especially if it was the Arconia.
Could you solve a murder mystery, either by yourself or with a group of friends?
Just going off of my group project abilities, I would be a really useless asset in figuring out a murder mystery. I would 100% be a part of the group, but would be the person that gets killed first because I’m not paying attention. Also, I’m very clumsy, so a lot of things would go wrong in my journey there.
Have you ever had a ghost interaction?
On the set of Boo, Bitch, we were at a cemetery one night and had a real ghost detector with us instead of a fake prop. When we were filming the scenes, the ghost detector kept going off. It was going off the whole time when it was held by Tenzing Trainor, who plays Gavin in the show. When he would hand it off to someone else, it would shut off. But as soon as he was holding it again, it would start going off. So when you watch that scene, just know it was completely real.
Would you rather be a ghost that hangs out for a while or one that moves on to the afterlife ASAP?
That’s an interesting question. I feel like there are positives and negatives to both of them. I like the idea of hanging around for a little bit so that you can say goodbye to people and do things that you like to do before you’re fully ready to go. I don’t think I’d ever be able to come to terms with actually passing through and being gone, but knowing that you’re dead and being able to do all that, I think you’d be more at peace with dying.
What do you think is scarier: Murderers or ghosts?
Oooh… murderers, 100%. Ghosts are obviously scary because they’re ghosts, but I think having to be around a person that is capable of doing something like that is so terrifying. Also, you could be walking up to someone that’s killed someone and you’d have no idea. That’s scary.
It also raises the question: Are ghosts able to murder people?
I didn’t even think of that! That’s a double whammy. Who knows? Oh my gosh! You’ve just given me a new fear. I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight thinking about if a ghost is going to come and kill me. Thank you so much for that [laughing].
