Have you ever wanted advice from your fav TikTokker? Do we have a surprise for you! Digital creator Tefi Pessoa (she/her) is here to discuss finances—with her own spin, ofc. Keep reading to get the deets on the first-of-its-kind Extra debit card and how her latest money miniseries breaks down the stigma surrounding credit.
How does the Extra card work?
So it’s really cool—the Extra card is the first and only debit card that allows members to build credit and earn reward points. Members can use the card for everyday purchases like groceries, clothing, and online shopping to earn reward points. You can swipe the card like any normal debit card, and Extra spots you for that purchase and automatically pays themselves back the next business day with the funds you have available.
That’s pretty cool. What can you tell us about the miniseries you’re leading?
Credit Talk is a miniseries where we relate and educate about all things credit. Each episode is 2-3 minutes long and focuses on an essential topic or concept. The series is made up of different segments, so one day you could find me on the streets of NYC putting New Yorkers’ credit knowledge to the test, and on another day, I could be breaking down credit myths. The goal of this show is to help viewers learn how to manage their finances, clean up their credit score, and walk away with better credit knowledge.
Why do we even need convos about credit?
When I was younger, I had no idea that good credit was necessary for really important things—like if you want to rent an apartment or buy a house. I think there’s still so many people who view talking about credit or money as taboo or something that’s meant to be kept private, and because of this, we’re left with this huge group who don’t know anything about credit, and have no idea how to even approach the subject.
How do you think your show will help break credit stigmas?
Starting out on your credit journey can feel really overwhelming and confusing. This series makes education around credit accessible and digestible… viewers might even have fun with me along the way! We’ve also kept episodes short, so they don’t feel too intimidating to sit down and watch, but they’re full of really helpful tips, tricks, and stories from real people who have struggled with their credit, and are taking the necessary steps to improve it.
