LEARN HOW TO SET THE PERFECT TABLE.

Where the fork does that fork go?!

Sophie Weill (she/her) and Kiki Weill (she/her), co-founders of Piano Piano, have the answer(s). While in Italy, the sisters felt inspired by how alive and present they felt—especially during a life-changing cooking class where the chef kept repeating “piano piano” which means “slowly slowly” in Italian. They decided “to build a brand that inspires others to gather together, to slow down, to feel alive, and be present every day.” And because this is best done over the table, their tableware company was born. The designs “incorporate vibrant colors and a lively design” in order to inspire those who buy the items to “celebrate life and come alive.”

If you’re ready to do the same at your next dinner party, follow their table setting tips below (with an illustration for the visual learners among us)… and maybe snag some of their stunning serving bowls?

“We have so much fun while decorating the table for the holidays! We start by adding a tablecloth that serves as the canvas for the table. Then, depending on what is being served, we choose the types of plates, silverware, and glassware to add to everyone’s place at the table. Once we decide on the tableware we need, we add the dinner plate to everyone’s spot and stack a salad plate or soup bowl on top. Then, we place the utensils as shown below. Lastly, we make sure to add napkins to everyone’s place. We place the cloth napkin in a napkin ring in the center of the plate or to the left of the salad fork. Finally, for decorative pieces, we love to incorporate items from around the house, such as tree trimmings, acorns and candles. We like to make sure the centerpieces do not overcrowd the table so that everyone feels comfortable, can see one another, and has room to move around.”
