You Asked We Answered

Just like a skincare routine, taking care of your hair is key to keeping it happy and healthy. And our fav haircare enthusiast Babba Rivera (she/her) is here to tell you how. Also the founder and CEO of Ceremonia, Babba believes that haircare is more than just growing out your locks; it’s a necessary form of self-care.
“Growing up, I watched my mom and aunties indulge in beauty rituals using natural ingredients they knew from passed-down customs. It was so special seeing them take a moment to do something for themselves, as they otherwise spent the majority of the day serving others. My mother taught me self-worth by simply practicing it herself, carving out the space for 2-hour baths and showers unapologetically as a mom of 2. A haircare ritual is a little treat you give yourself to bring you back to you. The best part is that it’s so attainable—we all need to wash our hair at some point, so why not upgrade that moment?”
Amen to that, Babba. Keep reading to find out the As to the important Qs in life, like: How often should we wash our hair? What order should we use our products in? And really—how do we grow out our mane?!
How often should we wash our hair?
I feel there is no correct answer to this question as everyone’s hair and life situations are different, but I recommend dedicating 1 wash day a week for scalp care. If you need to wash your hair more than once a week, I suggest using a silicone- and sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to avoid drying out your hair. I give my scalp an oil cleanse with our scalp remedy oil once a week. This oil functions as a nourishing pre-wash scalp balancing treatment, which I usually leave on overnight. I then wash it off the next day with our Papaya Scalp Scrub, which lifts excess sebum production, all while unclogging dirt and build-up from your scalp’s pores. This ritual also gives my roots extra volume. I end the routine with our deep conditioning hair mask which provides boosted shine.
What about after we get out of the shower?
Our Guava Leave-In Conditioner is a crowd-favorite for those with dry ends or color-treated hair, and the Guava Rescue Spray is the ultimate primer for heat styling protection and nourishment. Lastly, it’s time for your styling products. Achieve a sleek, straight ponytail with our Pequi Styling Gel, activate bouncy, weightless curls with Pequi Curl Activator and our Diffuser de Rizos, or go for texturized beach waves with our Guava Beach Waves Salt Spray. For those in-between wash days moments, the Açaí Style Refresher is our go-to. It helps to resculpt your hair while adding a refreshing scent, making it feel newly washed. Our Oil Mist con Aloe Vera is another favorite as a final step, as it helps to naturally boost shine while also sealing all of the nutrition you’ve added to your hair through your routine.
How can we ensure maximum hair growth?
Healthy hair begins at the scalp, which is why having a weekly scalp routine is so crucial. In addition to a scalp routine, I can’t stress enough the benefits of going sulfate and silicone free. These filler ingredients don’t do anything for your hair except dry it out over time, making your hair more prone to breakage. Ever since switching to a fully clean hair journey and implementing a weekly scalp routine, I’ve been able to grow out my hair faster than ever before and unlock healthy tresses that require little to no styling. Our miracle oil Aceite de Moska regenerates hair, helps reduce scalp flakiness, and promotes follicle health for optimal hair growth. It pairs perfectly with our scalp massager, which helps to work the product into the scalp while also increasing blood flow stimulation, which is an essential part of the hair growth process.
