Today I Will...

MOVE WITH CONFIDENCE.
Living like nobody’s watching is always on our to-do list, but it’s much easier said than done thanks to imposter syndrome/morning pimples/etc. Mogul Marsai Martin (she/her), however, seems to always exude “that b*tch” energy. “There’s a lot of layers when it comes to building up my confidence,” Marsai says. “Starting your day in the right state of mind and making sure that you’re doing all the steps to take care of yourself always works for me always.” Just like the rest of us, Marsai doesn’t have it together 24/7, so here’s the confidence kit she uses to get back on track.
MUSIC
The main thing is music for sure. My favorite rapper is Tyler, the Creator, but my favorite artist all around is Kendrick Lamar. I love Mac Ayres. He’s more of an R&B or soul type of vibe. People consider me an old soul, so I like anything in between those types of vibes.
HYGIENE
I’m super energetic and always laughing, so my smile is something I always want to prioritize. The first thing I do in the morning is brush my teeth with the Philips One by Sonicare, and I make sure to get each area of my quads.
AFFIRMATIONS
I finish my morning by telling myself affirmations. One that my mom taught me when I was really young is, “What’s for you is for you, and what’s for you won’t miss you.”
FASHION
I feel most confident when I’m comfortable. I love my oversized jackets, different colors, and the ’90s/Y2K style.
ATTITUDE
It’s all about mindset and energy for me. If I go into a meeting thinking, “Oh, I’m talking to one of the big guys and I have to act a certain way,” that’s one of the top things that make me nervous and stressed. So I usually try to switch my mindset into, “Oh, okay, this is a homie. We’re just talking about what we want to create and our overall goals.” That’s what these meetings are for. It’s all about changing how you look at things so you don’t get caught up or stuck.
