Why I'm...

It’s almost my time of the month. 😩 Sorry, TMI… well actually, nothing is too much of anything with you guys. That being said, I wanted to share the brand I buy my pads and tampons from (that just so happens to be Black and women-owned) and introduce you to the lovely mind behind it. Say hello to Beatrice Dixon (she/her), co-founder, CEO, and CINO of The Honey Pot Company.
The idea for her business literally came to her in a dream—and a desire to fill a need that wasn’t being met. “The company was truly created out of necessity,” she says. “I was struggling with bacterial vaginosis for 8 months and was searching for solutions that would aid my symptoms, but I couldn’t find anything. Ultimately, my search led me to create what became my first product: a vulva-safe wash. Now, the new dream is to see us become a global brand so humans with vaginas everywhere can learn more about owning a vagina and prioritize their wellness with stuff that matters to them.”
Currently, the brand has over 55+ items to choose from. And while I personally love their organic super pads (where my big bleeders at?) because they don’t give me a rash, Beatrice has some favs of her own. “Of course, I love all of our products but the ones I’ve been using on repeat recently are the Cucumber Aloe Wash, Bergamot Rose Wipes, and Herbal Vulva Cream,” she shares. “Last year we launched our line of supplements which include Yeast Balance, Urinary Tract Support, and Oral Vaginal Probiotic. We also added our first OTC anti-itch collection that includes a cream, spray, and wipes.”
If you couldn’t tell, Beatrice and her team keep pumping out more products because of demand and a dedicated community. “Our items are deeply loved because they’re thoughtfully created to provide humans with vaginas a healthier alternative to traditional feminine care, without sacrificing on quality. All of our formulas are plant-derived, made with powerful and efficacious ingredients, and gynecologist-approved.” And that’s a fact.
But aside from buying from the biz, Beatrice encourages other ways to help her (and ultimately yourself). “The Honey Pot is so much more than the items in your bathroom cabinet,” she says. “It’s embracing that time of the month, staying balanced through the ups and downs, good sex, and just ‘ok’ sex. It’s exploring and it’s learning. It’s about creating a vaginal wellness routine that supports you and your needs, and not feeling any shame in doing so. To me, self-advocacy, having conversations that destigmatize the vagina, and taking steps to empower yourself are the best support for my business. BTW, I talk a lot about these topics on our podcast, The Honey Potluck, which I co-host with my friend and colleague, Giovanna Alfieri.”
Before I sign off for the weekend, I also wanted to mention that periods can sometimes bring about really weird feelings. To that, Beatrice says: “I like to remind people that all things are in order. While it may feel chaotic or overwhelming—and man, it probably is—everything is happening exactly as it should be.”
May your next period be full of pads and peace ✌️,
