It’s been a long week… and you look like you need a break. What better way to recharge than some quality “me time?” Instead of relying on a friend to lift your spirits, try looking within for total mind and body relaxation. Clueless on where to start? See below for six easy ways to de-stress and reboot, while enjoying some alone time.
Take a walk
Taking a nice stroll with no destination is a great way to clear your mind and really appreciate your surroundings. We’re so used to rushing from one place to another, that we often forget to stop and notice the landmarks or people around us. Taking 5 minutes out of your day (like during your lunch break) is a nice way to pause amid all of the hustle and bustle. Just be sure to keep your eyes off of your phone and your mind concentrated on nothing at all.
Bath time
For those of you who have tubs at home, be sure to take advantage of them! Taking a nice long and steamy soak will soothe your body and rejuvenate your mind. Mix in your favorite essential oils and salts for total relaxation. We like our baths with a side of wine and magazines for the ultimate “me time.”
Read and relax
When was the last time you read a good book? Not only is reading a great way to unwind, but it’s the perfect way for anyone to escape reality for a bit and dive into a different world. There’s absolutely nothing better than grabbing a book and curling up on the couch with a cozy blanket.
Plug in
Listening to music has a relaxing effect on both our minds and bodies, making it an exceptional stress management tool. Lie down, close your eyes and plug in your headphones for a nice chill session.
Table for one
Dining alone might be terrifying (and a little sad) for many people, but you’d be surprised how enjoyable it is. Try grabbing a seat at the bar of a restaurant that is always booked, and if you’re feeling extra courageous, turn your phone off. Take this time to really enjoy the food, drinks, and atmosphere.
