“Roger that.” That’s what we wanted to say every time Tia Mowry (she / her) of Sister, Sister fame answered our questions, but luckily, our willpower was strong that day.

Instead, we chatted with the Anser founder (who just dropped a new cookbook called The Quick Fix Kitchen, BTWabout her evenings, and how good food + Sade + bubble baths are the perfect recipe for self-care. (Of course, we talked all things Twitches, too… or do we mean 3?!)

30 P.M. I’m making dinner because it’s all about trying to get the kids in bed by 7:30 / 8. One recipe the kids are loving is the Italian pot pie. A lot of the recipes in my cookbook are practical, and I aim for 1-pot meals or sheet pan dinners… I want to encourage people to not see cooking as a chore. [It’s] about nurturing and creating memories with your loved ones. That’s what I did growing up, and that tradition has been carried on with my family. There’s that unity with everybody coming together and helping, so I want to encourage others to do the same.

P.M. We’re just sitting around the table and talking. It’s very important to me because this is the time when you can check in with your kids. I’ll ask [my son] Cree, “How’s school? How are things going?” Yesterday, he was like, “Mom, I learned this new dance, Macarena!” He was telling me about that, how it was ‘new’ and I was like, “Oh my God, Cree, it’s not new! Your mom used to do that when she was in high school.” Then we started playing paper, rock, scissors and I kept on winning. [Laughing.] It was so funny.

30 P.M. Because I’m juggling so many things—my husband is working on a show right now—organization keeps everything zen as much as possible. We make sure everything is cleaned, and I’ve learned this from my parents because [they] were in the army, so they were all about structure. I grew up making sure everything is tidy before bed so when you wake up in the morning, it feels like a new day. After we organize the house, we all hang out either in the playroom or the theater room.

30 P.M. It’s time to get the kids in bed. I give [my daughter] Cairo a bath, I read her a book. She loves it very much, and I put her down. Then my son Cree, he takes care of himself, but it’s very important that I tuck him in at night, and he always likes me to say a little prayer for him. He’s 10 years old and still wants Mommy to tuck him in, which is fine! I’m the type of mom where I’m like, “If my son is 40 and wants to give me a hug and lay on me, I’m totally fine with that.” I will always be Mama to my son!

P.M. With my extremely chaotic lifestyle, I make sure I participate in some sort of self-care on a daily basis. I’ll turn the lights down low and take off my makeup. Skincare is really important to me, and one thing I love to do is take my Anser beauty formula, which is for hair, skin, and nails. I love focusing on what’s going on on the inside, not just the outside. Shani Darden is my facialist, and she has incredible products. I’ll wash my face, use a toner, then use an SPF moisturizer. Then I’m really in love with this La Mer night cream. It’s been around for years but I’ve reintroduced it to my routine. When I wake up in the morning, my face is nice and hydrated.

30 P.M. I love bubble baths. I put in a milk bath, then a little bit of Lab To Beauty bath oil [that] has CBG. I’ll listen to Sade, have candles going, and it’s just a nice vibe. I’ll get out of the tub and lather down with some coconut oil from Kopari… I absolutely love silk PJs by Lunya. Then I’ll do a little bit of Palo Santo, burn some sage, then really start winding down.

15 P.M. I’ve seen a huge change with my energy and how I take on the next day when I get a lot of sleep. I’ll take my Anser restful sleep supplements, then start reading. I’m currently reading this incredible book called Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford. I’m really into wellness, and it teaches you about how important food is when it comes to our health and whatever you’re dealing with. If you’re stressed, you have anxiety, you’re depressed, it shows how certain foods can help.

P.M. I’ll watch a little TV [before] bed. Around Halloween, people bring up Twitches. They’ll say, “It’s that time again!” When Tamera and I shot it, we never knew it was going to be such a classic. I had seen something on Instagram recently where [people] are actually having a Twitches party at a college. I mean, a college? We shot the last movie in 2005. To see that people are continuing to love this movie, it’s insane. When it comes to a reboot, my sister and I [have tried], but for some reason, it never works out. We had the conversation with Disney, and we were like, “Yo, people want this. What can we do?” And nothing. I don’t know if that’s going to happen, but we did try!
