She’s on coarse. Piersten Gaines is the founder of Pressed Roots, a silk blowout bar specializing in textured hair. The Harvard grad is already expanding her salons in Texas, but we have a feeling the world is her next stop.

Here, she shares how she preps for sweet dreams, how Kim K. changed Piersten’s bedtime routine, and her self-care staples.

8 P.M. I’m heading out of the salon, but the work still continues. As CEO of a growing business, there really isn’t a time I get “off,” but I try my best to unplug at home. I started Pressed Roots after years of traumatic salon visits, and I realized there was an underserved market of people searching for haircare.

8:30 P.M. I get comfortable by taking a hot shower and changing into my lounge clothes. I was gifted the Skims Cozy set for Christmas, and it has quickly become my favorite comfy ‘fit.

9 P.M. I take my “me time,” even if it’s just a few minutes. I like to take a few deep breaths, relax, and reflect before I dive into dinner. My go-to meal is takeout Thai. I like to catch up on one of my guilty pleasure shows while eating. Right now it’s The Bachelor, but any reality TV works.

10 P.M. I wash my face with Tatcha’s The Deep Cleanse, then I apply Kiehl’s Deep Pore Cleansing Masque and let it soak in while I shower. My new favorite product is Diptyque’s Body Oil. It makes my body feel like butter. Lastly, I moisturize with Tatcha Water Cream.

10:30 P.M. My nighttime hair routine is pretty simple; it’s the morning that requires more care. I wrap my hair every night in a silk scarf to ensure my hair is kept preserved, frizz-free, and soft.

11 P.M. I wind down listening to business podcasts or inspirational stories about entrepreneurship, like How I Built This. On nights I’m treating myself, I pick up a good book and read before bed.
