iLove Laci. If you haven’t heard, teen sitcom iCarly got a millennial-style revival back in 2021, and now, the 2nd season has arrived on Paramount+Laci Mosley (she / her) plays aspiring fashion designer Harper alongside the OG cast Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor.

Here, the Texas native explains how she’s bad and boujee (just like her character), who she would like to see guest star on the show, and what happened when she was in the presence of thee Queen B.

Reboots can be hit or miss. How did you guys pull off this revival?
The writers and our showrunner are very dedicated to keeping the energy the original show had. The characters are [now] adults, yet they still live in this really wacky world. But it’s the same insane, fun, and weird gags—Jerry’s gotta catch fire at some point [laughing]. And I had the pleasure of putting him out this season, which was a lot of responsibility. So that was interesting working with the fire guy, and being like, “Jerry, I don’t want to kill you.”

Wait, so it’s real fire?
Oh, yeah, it’s real. We suffer for our art [laughing]. They make it bigger with CGI, but he really was on fire.

Do you feel like you and your character are similar?
There’s definitely some things about Harper that are very boujee, and my friends and family call me boujee, but they don’t know where I got it from. She’s also very into fashion and I do like a ‘fit. So there are definitely some similarities.

What do you admire most about her?
I like that she’s very tenacious. She doesn’t give up. She has tons of setbacks, but she doesn’t stay down in the dumps for very long. Although, it is fun to see Harper wallow [laughing].

Spoiler alert! Harper and Dutch finally kiss in last season’s finale. Since Dutch is Harper’s boss, do you think that might bring some complications?
So Harper hooking up with her boss is a little controversial [laughing], but that was a fun moment on Twitter. It really warmed my heart to see so many LGBTQ+ kids finally feel represented on a show they grew up watching. It brought tears to my eyes. If you never see anyone who looks like you, dresses like you, or has the same abilities as you, then you start to feel like you don’t exist or that your voice isn’t important. So Poppy Liu [who plays Dutch] and I took that with a lot of responsibility. In this next season—I can’t spoil anything—but you’ll definitely know what happens between them early on.

iCarly had huge guest stars like Michelle Obama, Emma Stone, and Emily Ratajkowski. Who would you love to see on the show next?
Oooo, I would love to have Jack Harlow. He’s acting now and doing the remake of White Men Can’t Jump. Or Doja Cat! Also, anybody who’s been in a Marvel movie.

Do you ever get starstruck seeing celebs?
Oh goodness, no. I don’t get starstruck like that… No, wait. That’s not true. One time I was at a club and people broke out running, so I started running. When we got to the destination, there was Beyonce. So for her, I screamed and lost my wits.
