Running a media company means inconsistency and spontaneity are intertwined into every aspect of my day, so for those early morning hours, I try to keep my routine as uniform as possible. One thing I always make time for is music and magazines, because they truly brighten my A.M. and set the mood for a productive day. But since I’m constantly on the go, lugging around my reads (while also carrying my fashionable but not so practical purse) can be a nightmare. Luckily, I was recently introduced to WEYV, an app that seamlessly allows me to listen, read, and share, all in one place. Plus– they make a charitable donation every time I listen to a song, which makes me feel better about my Rihanna addiction. Catch a glimpse of my pre-work morning routine, and see all the ways I WEYV below.
The first thing I do after finishing the our daily e-mail newsletter is go for a run around the neighborhood. I live on a pretty quiet street in Flatiron, so I’m able to jog without having to expertly maneuver past people. Working out can be a huge chore for me (unfortunately I’m not one of those people who craves sweat sessions) so listening to music is the only positive part of that routine. I’m also not someone who’s super up-to-date with the latest songs, so luckily our office shares a WEYV playlist that we can all build upon so that I’m always listening to fresh, upbeat tunes. My favorite workout songs are “Run the World (Girls),” “Work,” and anything by Lana Del Rey.

After literally the shortest workout ever (I’m trying to get better at it!) I go back home and change so that I can get into the office. I live pretty close to our HQ, but sometimes I’ll hop in a cab and take it up 6th ave so that I can catch up on my favorite magazines (my favs are InStyle and Food & Wine) on my WEYV app.

After riding to work with my sidekick Leo (who always ends up hopping out of his carrying bag) I get to the office and check my overflowing inbox. We have a very casual and collaborative work environment, so we’re always listening to songs while we have meetings, write stories, and work on strategies. Whenever a few team members have a conference call and we all turn to our headphones, we like to share stations and playlists with each other sans having to speak. WEYV has this really cool feature where we can do it all virtually, which means I’m constantly getting shared on a ton of Hilary Duff and Britney Spears-filled playlists. We have a nostalgia problem.

Aaaaand that’s a wrap on my pre-work storyline! Let me know your favorite songs via our comments section and I’ll check them out, and try WEYV for two months for free (without having to enter any credit card info!) by using code NEWSETTE here.
P.S.– We have a “Girl Power” playlist in WEYV’s “Mood” section. Check it out to see what we rock out to at HQ.
