Tara Rudes Dann is the Vice President and Partner of the incredibly chic (and Newsette favorite) clothing brand L’Agence. She balances running the celeb-loved line—worn by the likes of Karlie Kloss, Ashley Graham, and Jessica Biel—with being a mother and flying back and forth across the country (while remaining incredibly stylish the entire time). Tara believes that a successful day starts bright and early, so we asked her to break down what she does before the sun comes up.

5:30 A.M. Our 19-month-old baby boy Greyson walks into our bedroom and wants to have his morning bottle in our bed. I get a head start on answering emails. I then check the Cheat Sheet on The Daily Beast which provides summaries from global publications – it’s important for me to stay updated on day-to-day news.

6 A.M. I put on my Calvin Klein robe, head to the bathroom, and wash up withLa Prairie Foam Cleanser. I then follow up with their White Caviar Illuminating Moisturizing Cream.

6:15 A.M. I change into Splits59 athleticwear before starting my day with a morning workout. I can either be found throwing hooks and jabs at Rumble or getting in my cardio at the gym. I use my iWatch to keep track of time at the gym and manage any important international emails in the mornings.

7:30 A.M. My husband Steven, who also works in fashion, meets me in the kitchen for a cappuccino. We both have super hectic schedules but we always make sure to have breakfast with our son every morning!  Our Sonos plays my favorite 90’s R&B Spotify playlist while Greyson presses the ‘Start’ button on the Nespresso. Our breakfast consists of egg white omelets, yogurt, granola, and fruit (strawberries, blueberries and bananas).

8 A.M. I jump into the shower. I shampoo and condition with Oribe – either with their Gold Lust or Brilliance & Shine products. I was definitely a hair stylist in a past life – I take pride in my naturally curly hair! Due to coloring and treatments throughout the years, it’s essential to care for my hair as much as I do my skin.  I hydrate and moisturize my skin while I blow out my hair using my Solano blow dryer and then add waves with my Babyliss curling iron. I finish up by stealing some of my husband’s Oribe Fiber Groom paste – perfect for fly-aways and adds bounce. I attempt to finish this process in between my son and husband running in and out of the room.

8:45 A.M. I get a call from Mackenzie who manages the business with me. We go over the schedule for the day … calendar, appts. This is usually on speaker phone as I apply my makeup. Charlotte Tilbury makes the best moisturizing cream for under makeup. Then, I apply her Wonder Glow which the name speaks for itself. From there it’s Anastasia for contouring and a great blush from Tom Ford. My beauty secret is the Hall of Fame natural lip gloss, again from Charlotte Tilbury.

9 A.M. Still on the phone I toggle to call an Uber. I live fairly close to our Bryant Park office, however I was born in heels. I’m lucky my husband’s namesake store carries many of my favorite shoe lines… Valentino, Aquazzura, Alexandre Birman, etc. After choosing shoes, I throw on a pair of sunglasses, grab my vitamins and run out the door.

9:30 A.M. With traffic, I’m just pulling up to the office. my Beats by Dre headset is in and I’m still on the phone. I run a ‘mobile office’. This is about the time I’m speaking with my partners in LA.
10 A.M. Can anyone get me a Starbucks? My email is up. I’m reviewing designs that were sent over from LA. This is when Oscar, our retail specialist, gives me first feedback from the selling floors as I get ready for our daily sales meeting to pump up the team.
