Brushing your teeth and finding clean clothes may be your current morning goals, but we’re here to tell you that you have a few tasks to add to your A.M. routine. The precious time before 9 A.M. can set the tone for your entire day, which means you should try to be as good to your mind and body as possible. We’ve jotted down a few easy suggestions on how to bump up your morning routine before the clock strikes nine.
Drink up. You probably don’t need any incentives to head straight towards your Keurig in the morning, but you might need a little push to reach for a glass of water before sipping on your favorite brew. After an entire night without H20, your body craves water, especially if you’re about to drink a dehydrating cup of coffee. We recommend keeping a bottle of water next to your bed, or making sure you sip one cup of it before starting the rest of your morning routine.
Think about your day. It’s easy to hit the ground running in the morning (especially if you woke up late) and forget what you’re even preparing yourself for. Give yourself at least 10 minutes to sit and think about your goals for the day, and then connect them to a bigger goal you’re setting for the year. That way, you’re hyped to get out of the house and feel like what you’re doing has purpose.
Don’t skip breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day for a reason. Eating a healthy breakfast helps you get energized, improve short-term memory, and curb cravings (a.k.a you’ll be less likely to reach for that box of donuts in the office). Try waking up a few minutes earlier to make yourself something delicious and filling before heading out for the day.
