Let’s be real—we are busy, multi-tasking women who are doing it all, while attempting to “have it all.” Obviously, our health is important, but guess what—so is having fun. Sometimes, there’s just not enough time in the day to fit in that green juice or superfood salad you promised yourself you would make and have a night out with the girls. But maybe you don’t need to decide between the two. Below, find our favorite boozy superfood-infused drink recipes that are not only healthier than your typical sugary cocktail, but contain veggies that are actually good for you. You no longer have to choose between your health and fun (not to mention the fact that having healthy vitamins and detoxifying greens instead of sugary mixers will minimize the hangover). Because you deserve to have it all.

AVOCADO MARGARITA

The festive fan-favorite of Mexican restaurant frequenters and fiesta fanatics can typically be loaded with bloating salt and hangover-inducing sugar. Instead of an unhealthy mixer, why not add an Instagrammable superfood? Avocado contains healthy fat that does wonders for your skin (meaning less hangover puffiness the next day), and is loaded with fiber, antioxidants, and crucial nutrients like Vitamin K, Vitamin E, potassium, and folate.
Ingredients:

  1. ½ ripe avocado
  2. Juice of 1 Lime (about 2-3 tablespoons)
  3. 2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup to sweeten
  4. 2 tablespoons orange juice (look for a version with no added sugar or preservatives)
  5. 4oz tequila
  6. Garnish with: lime zest, Himalayan salt on the rim, or sliced radish (for the Instagram)

Directions: In a blender, combine all ingredients with a cup of ice and blend until smooth

CUCUMBER KALE MULE

If you’re a Moscow Mule frequenter and love the gingery taste as well as the look of the copper mug, but don’t love the next-day hangover, try adding kale, which detoxifies the bloodstream, helping your body recover from alcohol quicker. You can also add cucumber, which is insanely hydrating to the body, helping you bounce back even after a few of these cocktails. Best of all, both of these tastes will highlight the ginger beer and vodka, adding a refreshing twist to your Mule.
Ingredients:

  1. 2 ½ oz vodka (or try: whiskey for a Kentucky Mule or tequila for a Mexican Mule)
  2. 1 cucumber
  3. A few stalks of kale
  4. ¾ oz lime juice
  5. 3 oz ginger beer

Garnish: Cucumber slices and freshly grated ginger (for digestive health)
Directions: Put a few stalks of kale through the juicer, followed by 1 cucumber (a blender will also work, but add 1 cup of water). Strain the mixture and combine 1 ½ oz of the juice with vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Strain mixture into glass and garnish.

KOMBUCHA COCKTAIL

By now, you’ve probably heard about the probiotic-filled drink that’s taken the health world by storm. This fermented and fizzy beverage is loaded with gut-healthy probiotics, which can also fight harmful yeast, stabilize mood, and balance microbiome, aka exactly what we need during a night of drinking. Plus, it’s the easiest and healthiest mixer ever! Pro tip: add the Kombucha last, in order to preserve the probiotics and carbonation.
Ingredients:

  1. 1 part vodka
  2. 1 part Kombucha (we like the ginger flavor for an extra digestion boost, but opt for any flavor you prefer)

Garnish: Sprig of mint and a sliced lemon
Directions: In a glass with ice, combine 1 part vodka, and 1 part Kombucha (or more Kombucha, if you prefer). Add a few sprigs of mint and a lemon slice

SUPERFOOD SANGRIA

Instead of sipping refreshing sangria loaded with added sugar and preservative juices, why not make it a superfood sangria? Blueberries are a favorite superfood because these little, juicy berries contain loads of fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. They are high in antioxidants, and can amp up weight loss, boost brain health, and alleviate inflammation, among many other benefits. Beyond just tasting delicious, adding raw honey to the sangria also provides lots of antioxidants, can help with allergies, and contains antibacterial properties. Finally, basil acts as an anti-inflammatory that promotes cardiovascular health. So, you can enjoy a drink or two or three of these… without feeling guilty!
Ingredients: (serves 4-5)

  1. 1 bottle chilled sparkling wine
  2. 1 cup fresh blueberries
  3. ½ cup fresh basil
  4. 2-2 ½ teaspoons raw honey

Directions: Muddle a few leaves of basil, ½ teaspoon of honey, and a couple tablespoons of blueberries in each glass (roast blueberries in oven for 10 minutes at 350 degrees beforehand, if you want a more liquid consistency). Top with sparkling wine and garnish with extra basil and blueberries

BOOZY GREEN LEMONADE

So you’ve been meaning to make that green juice all day, but just didn’t get around to it, and now your friends are on their way over to watch the latest episode of the Bachelor or get ready for a night out. What’s a girl to do!? Impress your friends by ditching sugary and simple mixers and making a boozy lemonade with green juice. They’ll be impressed by how gourmet your cocktail is, and will thank you in the morning when they feel refreshed and healthy, even after night of drinking. You get all the nutrients of a green juice while having your cocktail, giving “drink responsibility” a whole new meaning.
Ingredients: (serves 4)

  1. 3 celery stalks
  2. 1 apple
  3. 2 lemons
  4. 4 handfuls of favorite greens (kale or spinach)
  5. 4oz of spirit of choice (vodka or gin work well with the fresh lemony flavor of the juice)
  6. 1 cup club soda

Directions: Put the celery, apple, lemons, and greens through the juicer. Distribute juice into 4 glasses with ice. Add spirit to each glass and top with ¼ cup of club soda, each. Garnish with lemon slices and mint.
