Breakfast

What I eat: Scrambled eggs with chili, avocado, spinach, lime & lots of chives + raspberries & 1 black tea.
The time I eat it: 7:30 A.M.
Where I get it: We keep chickens, so the eggs are our own and the spinach, chives and chili came from my vegetable garden. Typically, my meals will include whatever vegetables and fruits are growing there (I often share videos on Instagram stories of what we are eating or how I prep my meals).

Snack

What I eat: I don’t eat snacks, but I drink lots and lots of water and have another tea.

Lunch

What I eat: Mixed herb salad and some lentil dahl that I made for Willow and me + some blueberries.
The time I eat it: 12:30 P.M.
Where I get it: Lots of different salad leaves, again from my veg garden with spring onion, coriander, dill, parsley and chives and cucumber and cherry tomatoes. On Sundays, I do a big batch of cooking and prepping for the week ahead and I made a lovely coconut & sweet potato dahl that Willow loves. I freeze it in small portions for us to enjoy on busier days.

Dinner

What I eat: Roast chicken with new potatoes, roasted courgette, and beetroot.
The time I eat it: 7 PM.
How I make it: Again, another Willow-friendly meal as I am trying to only cook one meal for us all rather than different food for her. All from my garden, other than the chicken which is organic and from a local farm.

Workout

Workout I did: Yoga class.
The time I did it: 9 A.M.

Overall thoughts

Willow isn’t sleeping very well lately, due to teething and the heat, so I feel pretty foggy and depleted. But I’m taking things easy at the moment to accommodate for the baby brain!

What are other wellness activities or habits that make you feel like your best self?

I learned to meditate a couple of years ago and it is now one of my most vital self-care habits. I notice that I am more anxious and stressed on days when I miss it. So, I make sure that I fit in 20 mins each day when Willow sleeps.  I have also recently started to reduce my phone time, as I get a lot of emails and messages and often feel overwhelmed and stressed by them all. So, I make sure I don’t look at my phone when I am with Willow and I now turn it off at 8pm. I don’t eat after 8pm to ensure that I get a 12-hour fast overnight and I prioritize sleep over everything at the moment.

Anything else you’d like to add

Being healthy isn’t a destination. It’s so important to be in tune with our bodies each day and respond, adapt and adjust to our unique daily needs. I see too many people who are aggressively trying to be “perfect” and live each day with a check list or a strict set of rules. Sometimes we have the energy to work really hard, do intense exercise and eat a beautifully balanced set of meals and other times we may need to completely unplug, take a proper rest and enjoy a bit too much wine and a big bowl of pasta.
