What's In Her Bag: Negin Mirsalehi, Founder of Gisou

Lifestyle
Negin Mirsalehi is an ultra-popular influencer, and founder of Gisou, a line of natural bee-based hair products. Negin’s brand was inspired by her family history, as she is a sixth generation beekeeper–and was first introduced to the health and beauty benefits of bees while growing up in Amsterdam. Now, a few million followers later, Negin has created the ultimate haircare line. The beauty boss shared with us that she is “grateful and happy about how fast Gisou is growing and coming together.” In addition, Negin is excited about a Paris Fashion Week pop-up, and her recent appointment as an ambassador for WWF, in honor of the conservation of bees. As not only a business woman, but an influencer with more followers than many movie stars, Negin is constantly on-the-go. She shares her must-have travel products below.
How often do you travel? Are these trips mostly domestic or international?
I travel very frequently, about 2-4 times a month, and mostly international. My carry-on is basically always packed and ready to go, even when I’m not traveling.
What type/brand of bag do you use as your carry-on? What do you pack inside of it?
My carry-on is the Cosmolite from Samsonite, which I love because it is lightweight yet sturdy at the same time. I just did a global campaign with Samsonite, which is really special to me, because I’ve been traveling with Samsonite luggage almost all of my life. With a Samsonite, you just know the quality is there – it’s a true investment piece. Samsonite luggage looks super sleek and stylish as well, which isn’t all too unimportant either, if you ask me.
What goes inside:
- Gisou Honey-Infused Hair Oil Luxe Travel Size. As the air in planes is so dehydrating, I always apply my Honey Infused Hair Oil in-flight to help keep my hair moisturized – we recently launched the Honey Infused Hair Oil Luxe Travel Size, which is conveniently TSA-approved and the perfect size to have on hand for on-the-go touch-ups both in the air and on the ground.
- Laptop. Maurits and I often use the many hours we spend on flights to catch up on work. So, my laptop is another definite essential for answering work emails or editing pictures and vlogs, for example.
- Homemade food, or at least some healthy snacks. I take my own meals and snacks from home with me whenever I fly because it is so much tastier and healthier than what is offered in-flight. I usually bring a quinoa salad for a light dinner or oatmeal for breakfast. For snacks I usually bring nuts, seeds, crackers and (dried) fruit.
- Compression socks. Another recent addition to my carry-on is compression socks. I’ve started using compression socks to help facilitate the blood circulation in my legs and to prevent my ankles from swelling during a long flight.
- Hand sanitizer. I can’t live without hand sanitizer when I am on-the-go. It’s truly an essential to help me feel fresh and clean.
- Lip Balm. Just as I keep my hair moisturized with my Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil, I take care of my lips with a nourishing lip balm, such as the Kiehls Lip Balm #1.
- Face mask and moisturizer. Especially during a long flight, I try to keep dehydration at bay by applying an intensive face mask or moisturizer. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré is my go-to intensive moisturizer. For a little in-flight pampering session, I love the Kiehl’s Instant Renewal Concentrate Mask or their Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask.
- Sex & The City or Friends DVD. Sex & The City is my favorite show of all time. I have watched every episode several times, but I never get tired of it. Ever since Maurits bought me a box with all seasons of Sex & the City, I bring a DVD with me on flights to keep me entertained or to help me fall asleep. I also love to watch Friends and Modern Family. Luckily, most airlines have at least one of these shows in their entertainment package now, so I don’t necessarily have to bring several DVDs.
- Deodorant. I keep a travel-size deodorant on hand with me just in case I need a bit of a refresh. The classic Dove rollerball always does the trick.
- Ear buds. I put ear buds in before take-off and landing to help balance out the air pressure and prevent ear pain.
