Age: 45
City: Santa Monica, CA
Industry: Cosmetics
Job Title: Key Account Manager
Years of Experience: 16
Salary: $140k
What does your job title mean?
I’m responsible for selling Capsum technologies across the U.S. West territory, including California, Intermountain areas, Arizona and Texas. I manage multiple projects with many prestige skincare brands and high-profile clients simultaneously. I oversee the entire relationship of newly developed businesses, including all aspects of the end-to-end product development process. I host weekly development and implementation meetings with my overseas Key Support teams and France, along with local U.S. customers.
What is your morning routine?
I wake up at 5am, drink warm lemon water, have 20 minutes of meditation (right now I’m into gratitude/abundance practices), pranayama, and prayer. At 6am, the day begins. I have coffee with matcha powder and almond milk, as well as a light breakfast (banana and egg, or almond milk yogurt with fruit). Then, I prepare the day’s to-do list. From 6:15am – 7am, I answer incoming emails from the France team. From 7am – 9am, I have phone calls with the France team, as well as customers. At 9am I shower, get dressed, and depart for the office (in a co-working space) at 9:30am.
At 11am I am…
At a customer or prospect meeting. Or, at the co-working space working on projects, writing call reports, or preparing for meetings.
What does lunch normally look like for you?
Lunch is generally my largest meal of the day–a robust salad with protein.
At 1pm I am…
On customer calls, writing call reports, or on a touch-base call with my boss, who is based in NYC.
At 3pm I am…
Taking a walk outside, or grabbing a green juice.
At 5pm I am…
Wrapping up my day, which entails finishing reports, sales commercial offers, and reviewing to-do lists.
When does a workday end for you?
Between 5pm and 6pm.
What do you do after work?
Some days, I walk down to the beach to unwind from a stressful day. At least 1 or 2 days a week I take an additional yoga class, and/or attend a kirtan or spiritual event like a meditation, full moon circle, or soundbath. I usually eat dinner at home. About once every other week, there are client dinners or an industry networking event.
What do you do before bed?
I try to be in bed by 10pm. I end my day by doing restorative yoga or some light reading. I wash my face, and apply essential oils. Then, I prepare my diffuser with lavender essential oil.
Is there anything about your job you’d like people to know?
I love the flexibility that my job provides. I am so much more motivated knowing that I am in control of how my day is shaped. I enjoy building relationships with customers and prospects–and because my company provides me that autonomy, I am much happier and fulfilled. I enjoy work every day.
