Age: 23
City: Seattle, WA
Industry: Corporate Social Responsibility
Job Title: Corporate Relations Coordinator
Years of Experience: 3
Salary: $40k
What does your job title mean?
I work with businesses to help incorporate fundraising and social impact into their corporate philanthropy model. I visit with organizations and corporations, help plan third-party charitable events, and work internally to help with fundraising within our community. This fundraising is for a large hunger relief organization in our city.
What is your morning routine?
I wake up at 5:30am, but usually look at social media or any important emails first. I’m out of bed by 7am if I’m not going to the gym. If I am working out, it’s usually an Orangetheory class before 6am, which is conveniently across from my apartment. Then I walk back and make a breakfast smoothie, shower, and start my day.
At 9am I am…
Answering emails or in a meeting to plan for our next fundraising activity.
At 11am I am…
In my first or second meeting, going over where we are on the latest food drive, third party event, or new partnership with a business.
What does lunch normally look like for you?
If I didn’t pack lunch, I’ll go and grab something from one of the local restaurants in the neighborhood. I usually go and grab it, and come back to eat at my desk.
At 1pm I am…
Working through the latest round of emails, and working with my intern on his project, which is to create Corporate Social Responsibility profiles of the businesses that come to our warehouse to volunteer.
At 3pm I am…
Getting ready to wrap up the day by doing some data entry and project management, usually to stay organized for the following days.
At 5pm I am…
Headed out the door to go home!
When does a workday end for you?
After finishing up some administrative tasks, I usually try to send the last few emails. My goal is always to be on my way out by 5pm.
What do you do after work?
Happy hour with friends in downtown Seattle or a nice night at home cleaning, cooking, and catching up on Pose or Queen Sugar.
What do you do before bed?
I try (emphasis on try) to go to bed at 10:30pm. That usually looks more like 11:30pm if I’m laughing at the silly things on my Twitter newsfeed.
Is there anything about your job you’d like people to know?
Even though I work for a nonprofit focused on hunger relief, we partner with different organizations to work toward ending hunger as a whole. As a corporate relations professional, I get to tell our business partners and donors about all the cool things they can get involved in by working with us. It’s awesome to see people realize how impactful just $1 can be for both their community and the morale of their employees!
