Age: 26
City: San Francisco
Industry: Tech
Job Title: Marketing Program Manager
Years of Experience: 2
Salary: $105k
What does your job title mean?
As a Marketing Program Manager, I lead branding and identity for a cross-functional marketing team. This includes day-to-day management of how the brand is managed and rolled out across all marketing and product channels.
What is your morning routine?
Depending on my calendar for the day, I’ll sleep in as late as possible (usually 7:45am) and then scramble to get myself together to be in the office by 8:30am. To make this as easy as possible, I pick out my work outfit the night before and pack my work bag with workout clothes, computer, wallet, and anything else I need for the day.
At 9am I am…
At my desk going through emails. I try to ease into the work day by reading The Newsette and other fun emails on my walk to the office or first thing when I get to my desk.
At 11am I am…
There’s a 90% chance I’m in a meeting at almost any point throughout my day. My role is essentially herding (talented, marketing professional) cats which requires a lot of face time, touching bases and discussion.
What does lunch normally look like for you?
These days, I’m lucky if I’m able to grab lunch at all. If a meeting ends early, I run and get a salad from our catered lunch offering and bring it into my next meeting. Ideally, I’m able to sit down with coworkers and talk about our weekend shenanigans for about 30 minutes.

At 1pm I am…
Likely still in meetings.
At 3pm I am…
We work with a lot of people on the East Coast so by this time, my meetings are subsiding as these folks head home and I’m able to jump into my inbox.
At 5pm I am…
I like to work out 5 days a week after work doing a variety of workout classes. I place holds on my calendar around 5pm letting people know I will be out of touch for the next hour or so while at the gym.
What do you do after work?
After work, I’ll go to a workout class, rinse off in the shower, and then go home to my boyfriend and make dinner. We try to limit work-talk to the first 30 minutes that we’re together and then shift gears to happier subjects 🙂
When does a workday end for you?
A It’s very hard for me to unplug and be “done with the workday” in the traditional sense. I’ll be responding to emails on my phone throughout the rest of the night if they’re urgent enough.
What do you do before bed?
I try to be in bed by 11pm each night. The first thing I do when I come home is immediately remove my contacts and any uncomfortable clothing (looking at you, underwire bra). I also like to wash my face early so that I can get the day’s grime off of me. San Francisco is a pretty grimy city. I’m trying to start reading for at least 10 minutes before bed every night. Then, I plug in my oil diffuser (filled with lavender oil for easing into sleep), put on some hand and foot cream (also lavender scented), my sleep mask and a pair of earplugs. I take sleep very seriously!
