Morning Routine
If you watched the Golden Globes last week, you may have seen Nina Parker (who wore not one, but two stunning looks). A TV and red carpet correspondent and Co-host of Nightly Pop for E! News, Nina is no stranger to star power... or extreme close-ups. Here’s how she prepares for a day in the studio.
6:15 A.M. I usually set my alarm two times because my body is stubborn. I work long hours, so I usually just lay [in bed] for 15 minutes before I do anything. My bedtime varies from 10 P.M. to midnight, so that 15 minutes in the morning is everything. I say a morning prayer and I’m officially up.
6:30 A.M. I go through any news stories I think may be good for [my E! segment] Nightly Pop and review any emails I’ve received since I went to bed.
6:45 A.M. I’m in the shower… I love Aveeno’s Lavender body wash. For my face, I use Clinique’s Foaming Face Wash. I use minimal products on my face; I keep it simple because I’m extremely oily, and it will show under my makeup. I use Urban RX Even Skintone Serum each morning… It’s been a lifesaver for my hyperpigmentation. I use pure shea butter on my body and put on sweats to head to work. The good thing about being on camera is my hair, makeup, and wardrobe are all done [on set], so I can show up looking crazy.
7:20 A.M. I arrive at the NBCUniversal Studios lot and my first stop is COFFEE. I usually get a medium vanilla latte (one pump of vanilla and 3 shots of espresso) and then I’m off to my morning meeting for Nightly Pop.
7:30 A.M. In our creative meeting, we discuss the hot celebrity topics of the day, what we want to talk about, and in what order. My co-hosts and I will debate the level of importance, and if certain topics are worth discussing. This is also a time to pitch any creative ideas.
8 A.M. I’m in the hair and makeup chair getting glammed up! During this time, I’m either on my phone or I have my laptop so I can go over show topics, do research, and respond to emails. My wardrobe stylist will usually pop in too with 3 or 4 outfit options to wear on the show, and we have a short creative chat… Usually she’s trying to prevent me from wearing sweats on-air!
10 A.M. I’m dressed and running to our closest coffee shop on the lot to grab something to eat. Usually it’s a breakfast smoothie or sandwich… Depending on the day, I may get another coffee.
10:30 A.M. I’m at my desk doing last minute script changes, being briefed, and getting mic’d up by audio.
10:45 A.M. I’m called to set by my stage manager and we’re rolling!
“Nightly Pop” airs Monday-Thursday nights on E!.
