How To Get Into The Holiday Spirit Right Now

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but when you’re too old to ask Santa for presents, it can be a little harder to get into the holiday spirit. I personally cherish December, and take in every detail of the glamorous window displays, glittering trees, and fuzzy Christmas socks (that are way over-priced but completely worth it), but I understand that it’s harder for others (above the age of five) to get as excited. That’s why I’ve come up with three easy and budget-friendly ways to get into a joyous mood, even if your current work load has you channeling the Grinch.
Steal Santa’s cookies
Blast some holiday tunes and whip up some yummy cookies made with peppermint, caramel, gingerbread, and other holiday favorites. Decorating your warm treats will make you feel like a kid again, and they make great gifts for everyone in your squad. Check out a roundup of cozy cookie recipes the whole family will love here.
Pop the popcorn
You don’t have to leave the couch to get in a merry mood. Instead of watching the latest episode of your Netflix binge, turn on a holiday classic like Love Actually, Home Alone, Edward Scissorhands, or Elf. Eat the cookies you made for Santa while you watch for an added ho-ho-holiday experience.
Order your holiday favorite at Starbucks
No time to channel Top Chef or sit and watch a holiday classic? Just swap out your regular latte for a seasonal flavor with hints of Gingerbread, Eggnog, Caramel Brulée or Chestnut Praline. This easy upgrade will get your taste buds in the mood to sing a Christmas carol (or at least smile when you hear “happy holidays” for the twentieth time today).
