Rosena Sammi is the passionate jewelry designer behind her namesake line that gives back to women and children. Her super successful charity collection, “Who’s Sari Now?” is made from up-sycled Sari fabric, and employs rescued sex workers from the red light districts of India. So how does this incredible New Zealand-born mother of two end a day of helping to save lives? Read her nightly routine below.
.45 P.M. This is the time I generally arrive home from work in NYC or make my way downstairs from my home office to begin my family routine. It’s a flurry of chaos with both my girls speaking a mile a minute to make sure I don’t miss any of the important news from their day. You’d be surprised how newsworthy a 4-year-old and 7-year-old’s days can be!
P.M. Dinner preparation begins in earnest. Weekday cooking is all about being fast and efficient, yet complex and delicious. Tasty on BuzzFeed is my best friend! I love experimenting with different ethnic recipes as well as my mum’s tried and tested favorites and thanks to FreshDirect I always have what I need waiting for me.
.30 P.M. Dinner is on the table and we are sitting down as a family. Despite my husband and I having hectic schedules, family dinner is a priority and our dinner table conversation is exactly what you’d expect from two litigators. Interestingly, our girls are pretty good at keeping up (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!) Dinner is always followed by fruit and desert and calls for a dance party (sometimes seen on Instagram) while I make the girls lunch for school the next day.
.30 P.M. Books are like candy in our house and reading to my girls is one of my favorite parts of the day..well until the negotiations begin over “just one more book”.
P.M. Lights out for my girls and its adults only time. Hmmm, that sounds problematic, but you know what I mean. First I have a nighttime skin care regime of a myriad of oils and salves (including Cane & Austin Miracle PadsUltraluxe Omega 3 Oil and Weleda Skin Food).  It allows me to take the day off and feel refreshed as the second part of the night begins.
30 P.M. Currently we are watching Ozark. Ice cream + suspense + sofa = bliss.
30 P.M. I usually have a few emails and phone calls to take care of as a lot of the folks I work with are in different time zones (Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Morocco etc). So from designs to deadlines I’m usually juggling these things at the end of the night, but you have to love modern technology–it’s amazing what can be accomplished via skype in your pajamas.
P.M. I settle down to read in bed. I just finished “Black Edge” by Sheelah Kolhatkar, which is an expose on insider trading on Wall Street.  It was a good read, but the subject matter was infuriating. I’m now reading “Salt Houses” by Hala Alyan, which is my perfect end-of- summer speed.
P.M. I’m early to rise, so I turn in around 11. I know I don’t get enough sleep…I’m working on it!
