If this natural beauty looks familiar, there’s a reason. Candice Fragis (who we interviewed a few weeks ago for a career Q & A) is the Buying and Merchandising Director for Farfetch, where she leads the buying, merchandising and visual merchandising teams across multiple departments. Curious to know what someone with this coveted role does before 11 A.M.? Read this London-based boss’ morning routine below
7:15 A.M. My alarm goes off at 7:15 and I tend to snooze it at least once. I wish I was the kind of person who jumps straight out of bed feeling refreshed and ready for the day – but sadly I am not. Getting out of bed is usually my first challenge of the day.
7:35 A.M. I’ve started to move. I will usually do a few stretching exercises for 5 or 10 mins to wake up my bones and then go straight to the kitchen to put on the kettle.
7:40 A.M. Whilst brushing my teeth, I make a large mug of hot water and lemon which I let cool during my shower. A shower is my mental alarm because only once I feel the warmth of the water do I actually start feeling awake. I use Dr. Bonners Castille Liquid soap for my body and La Roche-Posay Effaclar H hydrating cleansing cream for my face. I moisturize with whatever I feel my body needs that day – a range of either Caudalie Divine body oil or Ahava Dead Sea plants dry oil. If my skin is particularly dry I will use Neals Yard Bee Lovely all over balm or Palmers Coco butter, usually in winter.
For my face, I swear by SkinCeuticals Flortin CF which I apply beforeNeoStrata eye cream and then Skin Ceuticals sunscreen SPF 50 – all through the year.
8 A.M. by now I’m sipping my lemon water and putting on some make up. I don’t wear much but I almost always start with under eye concealer by Bobbi Brown, which I brush over with a pressed powder by T. LeClerc’s. I buy it in French pharmacies; it’s really inexpensive but so great on the skin as it’s made from zinc oxide and milled rice powder. A bit of mascara and then I get dressed. The only thought I give my outfit is weather appropriate as I hate being cold or too hot so in London that usually means layers. Jeans and cowboy boots feature at least 70% of the time
8:15 A.M. I have a quick snack, usually rye toast with almond butter or marmite, down a bunch of vitamins, and then sit on my sofa for a short meditation – 10-15 mins.
8:40 A.M. I get in my car and go past my favorite coffee shop for a soy flat white. They usually see me pull up so by the time I walk in the coffee is being made and I’m back on the road headed to the office. I usually spend the journey making a call or two which distracts me from the traffic
9:30 A.M. I grab a green smoothie on the way up to the office and as I get to my desk I go through emails and check the New In section on the website. I then review my to-do-list for the day and amend accordingly. I love a clean, full list and ticking things off as I go.
10:30 A.M. No day is the same really and I’m often traveling or at appointments around town but on office days, I am usually in a lot of meetings, in between which I will have another coffee and almost obsessively fill my water canister or a mug of hot water. I avoid drinking out of plastic and I am very conscious of my daily fluid intake so I am often surrounded by at least 3 drinking vessels, (a mug, a water canister/glass bottle, the remains of my morning smoothie) and always carrying one or two of them at any one time.
