Nell Diamond wants you to sleep in style. She’s the Founder & CEO of Hill House Home, a direct-to-consumer bedding & home brand she launched in 2016. Since then, the brand has opened up a store on Bleecker Street in the West Village, received rave reviews from Architectural Digest, and collaborated with the likes of Jennifer Fisher, Edie Parker, and Baja East. This Londoner turned New Yorker possesses a love for design (especially anything Victorian or embroidered), and that, coupled with her obsession with naps, makes her the perfect source for top-tier bedding and decor. So what does this sleep expert do after a long day of creating Instagram-worthy pieces? Take a peek at her nightly routine below.
6:30 P.M. My one-year-old son, Henry, goes to bed at 7 P.M., so by 6:30 his nanny has left and I’m back from work. In the last 30 minutes before bed, he’s always running around like crazy – often quite literally running laps around his room, burning off all the energy of the day. We read books and put away his toys together to help settle down before bedtime.
7 P.M. I trade off with my husband, Teddy, giving Henry his bottle and rocking him to sleep before putting him in his crib. This routine usually takes around 15 minutes and is just the best – nothing better than a tiny baby falling asleep on you!
8 P.M. If I don’t have a work event or a dinner, I like to take a shower or a bath right after putting Henry to bed. After this, I’ll start my skincare routine; I’m a huge K-Beauty fan, so I begin with a good cleanser and layer with essence, serum, moisturizer and eye cream. A few nights a week I’ll add in a face mask.
If I have a work event, I’ll change and re-do my makeup. I hate going straight from work to dinner or an event, so I always need to bake in at least 30 minutes for proper face-washing and outfit-changing!
8:30 P.M. After I’m clean and in PJs, I head downstairs with my computer and finish off last emails and work projects, usually with the TV on in the background.
9:30 P.M. I try to head to my room before 10, where I’ll either do a little organizing of my closet and laundry, or read a book before I head to bed around 10:30. Right now I’m reading Turtles All The Way Down.
10:30 P.M. I like using the Headspace App for 10 minute Sleeping meditation. It’s very guided – just a relaxing voice lulling me to sleep. I have a pavlovian response to the app now; as soon as I hear the narrator’s voice, I’m relaxed!
