Shanina Shaik began her modeling career at age eight and received her big break in 2013, when she starred in Victoria Secret’s Fashion Show. In the years since, she has been spotted on highly coveted runways for brands like Chanel, Tom Ford and Stella McCartney. If that wasn’t impressive enough, she was photographed by David Sims for a series of Sephora cosmetics promotions, and has also appeared in campaigns for Swarovski, Smashbox, Good American and L’Oreal. In addition, this incredibly successful model has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle and Marie Claire, and has been featured in Allure, Cosmopolitan and Vanity Fair. You might also recognize her from the E! show Model Squad. Wondering what this Australian does to start her jam-packed day? Keep scrolling to find out.
8 A.M. I wake up and try to avoid looking through my phone. I then meditate for 5 to 8 mins, depending on my schedule for the day. I use my “Calm” app. I give lots of cuddles and kisses to my dog, Choppa. He always wakes up and starts his day when I get up.
8:30 A.M. I always begin my day with some hot water and lemon or a latte with almond milk. Sometimes I indulge and enjoy a Bulletproof coffee. After I have taken Choppa out for his morning walk, I brush my teeth and wash my face with my favorite cleanser, Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Soap. It has real seaweed grains in the cleanser which makes it ideal for exfoliating as well. After this, I use my Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Toner. I press the toner into my skin (all over my face and neck). I love this product because it is infused with real rose petals. I then use the Dr. Barbara Sturm Darker Skin Tones Hyaluronic Acid to moisturize and help get rid of those fine lines over time. I finish my morning skincare routine with La Mer Reparative Face SPF 30 Sunscreen Face Lotion.
9:30 A.M. I change into my workout clothes and feed Choppa his morning breakfast. I then organize my workout gear (bottle of water, sneakers or flats, backpack, and headphones). Finally, I call an Uber and head downtown to my workout class.
10 A.M. At this time, I’m usually beginning a workout class on my day off or possibly finishing a workout class – it always depends on my schedule. I love to go to Megan Roup’s workout classes at ‘Project by Equinox’ or ‘Bandier/Studio B.” Her workouts consist of dancing aerobics with small weights and Pilates – using bands and arm and leg weights. I sometimes also attend a yoga class at Y7 Yoga. I love the classes because they play hip-hop and use infrared saunas in a dark candlelit room. These workouts keep me fit, long, and lean.
10:30 A.M. After a workout, it’s time for some food. I usually go home and make my own meal. I love two boiled eggs with avocados and a few slices of smoked salmon. If I don’t cook, I may order on Postmates from By CHLOE. I love to have lots of vegan options. After I finish my meal, I will send some emails, peruse social media and work on my schedule with my agents. My work schedule fluctuates and has me traveling a lot – I’m usually on a plane every 3 days. On my days off, I like to catch up with myself, my errands and relax at home.
