4 P.M. I stop working and go upstairs to cook dinner for my son, Rocky, and spend time playing with him. Rocky is a great eater so I try to mix it up as much as possible and get him used to trying new things. As a busy single mom though, Trader Joe’s is my best friend. I love that they have so many internationally-inspired and pre-made options that make it easy to one-stop-shop.
We play whatever he wants to play. Sometimes he wants to play inside with his block or cars. But we also do a lot of outdoor activities like digging in the dirt, water play or taking adventurous walks around our neighborhood. I usually just put on the Spotify discovery mix for background music.
During dinner, I, of course, use Lux Eros products! My kitchen is stocked full of any defective products I will not ship or sell. It’s all I use!
5 P.M. I think it’s important to keep a work/life balance and take quality time to spend with your children/loved ones. Honestly, everything is hard about being a working mom. I think there should be a whole other mother’s day dedicated to it! Especially for mom entrepreneurs. When you’re not working, you are worried about everything that’s not getting done and when you are working, you are worried that you are not doing enough with your kid. I worry all the time about all the classes and activities I don’t have time to put him in. Your days are LONG and it’s obviously thankless so that’s why it’s so important to create schedules and have your support system respect your boundaries around time because that schedule is crazy tight!
6 P.M. During this time, I get into his crib with him and read and sing and chat. But then I have to get out because he will not fall asleep with me in there with him!
Once I leave, I lay on the couch and stare at the ceiling for a brief period to recollect my thoughts and regain energy. Around 6:30pm, I make dinner for myself. I love to cook and I wing it. If I feel inspired to cook something that I don’t know how to make I might Google it, but I don’t usually use recipes. Me and baby daddy still spend every night together with Rocky for dinner and bedtime which is great because I really only like to cook for other people and he likes to eat. We make a pizza from scratch once a week and experiment with the toppings.
8 P.M. I head back down to the studio or wrap up any work that I have left for the day. I love to listen to a wide variety of podcasts while working and I usually create a checklist outlining all of the things that need to get done the next day. This checklist usually gets added to when I wake up at 3am when I’m thinking about all that has to get done/all of the ideas I have running through my head.
9 P.M. I take a bath, use Pantene Moisture Renewal Collection, put on a deep hydrating mask and use a scrub and a loofah to exfoliate my whole body because ceramics are so dehydrating. After that, I put on the heaviest Olay body lotion and face cream possible! I also love Tom’s Honeysuckle Rose Deodorant. Around 10 pm, I make an herbal tea and watch political satire shows, Bravo or Golden Girls until I pass out on the couch. I usually wake up on the couch around 2am and drag myself to bed!
