Caissie Levy is a princess–on Broadway. She plays one of the most beloved characters of the last decade, Elsa from Frozen, the musical. Aka, the sold-out show that New Yorkers are vying to see. Though being Elsa from Frozen is an incredibly coveted role, it’s far from Caissie’s first. She’s starred in six Broadway shows, including all-time favorites like Hairspray and Rent. Talk about an impressive bio. Before moving to New York, Caissie lived in Ontario, Canada, and has a two-year-old son with her husband, David Reiser, who also works in the theater industry as a professor and writer. Wondering what this Broadway star does to start her busy day on the stage? Find out below.
6 A.M. When my son starts belting either “Let It Go” or “For The First Time In Forever” from his crib. No joke. I prep my coffee the night before so that I can just hit start on my way to my son’s room. I drink Starbucks House Blend with Almond milk. It’s rare I get through a whole cup uninterrupted so there’s a lot of microwave reheating and topping up. Such is life with a toddler! Coffee is necessary.
Izaiah starts his day dancing, singing, and running around the apartment. Usually we blast some Beatles and have a dance party. He helps me make his breakfast (scrambled eggs with cheese and some avocado) and we read “Oh, The Places You’ll Go,” which he knows by heart.
When I make Izaiah’s eggs, I’ll often make one for myself as well so we can eat together. Aside from that, I try to be sure to eat protein in small amounts throughout the day to keep me energized. I’m a huge fan of Peanut Butter Cliff Bars – I eat them throughout the show, both for my body and voice. Otherwise, it’s a lot of fruit, lean turkey, grilled chicken and veggies, as I don’t like to be full, just satiated, before performing. No red meat, no dairy, light on the carbs.
My husband, David, teaches at a university a few hours from NYC, so sometimes he’s away for a few days at a time. But when he’s home with us for our morning routine, the three of us have the best time hanging out together in those early hours.
8 A.M. Get ready for school. Zaiah builds a fort in my bed while I throw myself together to drop him off at school! Once I’m dressed, we pick out something cute for Z to wear and grab his tiny backpack as we head out the door.
8:30 A.M. We hold hands and walk to school, stopping to look at cool rocks and sticks, and whatever truck or tractor we are lucky enough to pass on the way! Zaiah LOVES trucks. We chat and take our time. It’s a beautiful part of the day with my son.
9 A.M.  I kiss Izaiah goodbye and get a high five! Then I’ll grab an iced coffee at my local coffee shop, pick up any groceries we need, and then pop home to answer some emails and start my day.
9:30 A.M. Jump in the shower and get going! I’m currently obsessed with all things Cle de Peau! The most beautiful makeup line with such incredible skin benefits. A small amount of their Radiant Fluid Foundation and a swipe of mascara and I feel ready to take on the world. I’m also in love with my Clarisonic face brush. It fully transformed my skin in less than a month. I use it morning and night to wash my face and my skin has never looked better. I follow it up with Sisley Black Rose Precious Face Oil, and a light Kiehl’s moisturizer. For my hair, I stick with Aveda hair care products – gentle and natural.
10 A.M.  Off to either a voice-over job or audition, the gym, or a walk through my Upper West Side neighborhood. Some days I’ll even crawl back into bed for a little nap, since Elsa needs her sleep to hit those high notes 🙂
