Heather Askinosie and Timmi Jandro are the co-founders of Energy Muse, the leading handmade crystal healing jewelry company. The wellness world has embraced the incredible benefits of crystals, and Energy Muse sells a variety that are so stunning, it’ll be hard not to keep clicking “add to cart” once you check out their site. Heather is a crystal expert, who is a big proponent of feng shui, and holistic healing. Timmi runs the overall operations of the business, including sales, marketing, and production–a role she embraces, after twelve years in the garment industry. Both are mothers and wives, and joined forces to create this successful business after being friends since they were six-years-old. Below, these inspiring bosses tell us all about how they unwind after a long day.
 6:30 P.M.
Heather: I’m finishing up getting the kids settled, doing any homework or projects, and tidying up the house. We all eat dinner together, and there’s no EMFs at the table! Aka we try not to bring phones, iPads, or any other electronics.
Timmi: I’m just getting home, and I start getting ready for dinner with my son, who’s a senior in high school, and my husband. These dinners together are pretty special and important because our schedules are so full and we don’t always get that time to come together. Plus, whoever cooks doesn’t have to clean! During dinner we all make an effort to be present at the table. This is our time to decompress and chat about anything that happened that day – good or bad! We always start the meal with some kind of a prayer to show gratitude for our food and the time we get to spend together.
7:30 P.M.
Heather: After dinner, I make an effort to hang out with my kids and husband until the kids go to bed. Our favorite thing is to all jump into my bed and have a family hang out!
Timmi: After dinner is my time to finish up any remaining work from the day—responding to emails and texts, completing any reading or reviewing for Energy Muse. Something that Heather, my co-founder, teases me about doing is writing down my daily expenses. I love to see everything cancel out and stay on top of my finances! Right after I finish up some work is my little window of opportunity to start winding down. If I don’t stop, I’ll keep going! So, it’s super important that I start to slow down around this time so that I can (eventually) get to sleep.
8 P.M.
Heather: I’m still with the kids!
Timmi: Here’s when I start to set the tone for my bedroom. I like to diffuse lavender essential oils, take a shower, and start calming down. Every night I use either my iMRS mat or my Biomat. These mats help with pain relief, as well as help me get even more relaxed. What’s not to love?
9 P.M.
Heather: My daughter, Sophia, goes to bed at 9pm so that’s when I get to officially start my nightly routine! After I tuck Sophia in, I’ll draw a hot bath. I have tons of crystals near my bathtub, so I’ll pick whatever crystal I’m in the mood for that night and hold it in the bath for a boost of crystal energy. Some of my favorites for the bath are Shungite, Rose Quartz, and Aquamarine.
After the bath, I always like to do an Ayurvedic oil treatment. There’s something so special about connecting with yourself and your own body when you do an oil self-massage. I’ve been obsessing over the Herbivore Rose Quartz Body Oil! I also like to throw on a face mask or a nice serum. I could pretty much open a beauty store with the amount of serums and oils that I have on hand, but right now one of my absolute favorites is the Meli Glow Illuminating Nectar Mask by Leahlani. If I’m exfoliating, I’ll go with the Tatcha Rice Polish.
I should also mention this is the time I put my phone away for the night. I recently hopped on the “no phone an hour before sleep” train and it has been truly life-changing!
Timmi: It’s time to watch Netflix or listen to an audiobook. I have also worked with a spiritual mentor who has recorded messaging, so sometimes I’ll listen to those. They’re geared toward empowerment and self-love, so whenever I’m in need of a boost of personal power, I go for those. I always have a cup of calming tea in hand. At this point, it’s become a nightly ritual. Right now, I’m really into turmeric tea, but there’s also an incredible tea that I got from a trip to London! I like to change it up.
9:30 P.M.
Heather: I’ll do a sleep treatment on my iMRS mat to get relaxed and ready for bed.
Timmi: I wind down with a face mask and a good serum…I love Aesop. I’ll pick a serum, depending on what my skin needs, and use a Jade Roller with it. And before I totally go to sleep, I always pick out my outfit for the next day. If I’m headed to an early morning workout, I’ll set my workout clothes out. Otherwise it’s my outfit for the office! I’ve been doing this since I was a little girl, and it helps me feel prepared the next morning when I wake up.
10:00 P.M.
Heather: Before I get into bed I always take the incense and saffron water away from my altar so that it’s ready to go for the next morning. I also write for a few minutes in my 5-year journal. I’ll Palo Santo and rub magnesium on my feet. And then I’m ready for sleep! I *try* to be in bed by 10pm. If I don’t make to bed around this time, I’ve missed my chance to get to sleep before the second wind kicks in.
Timmi: My goal (I say goal because it’s not always my reality) is to be in bed by 10pm. Right before I go to sleep, I journal about the day. Usually I write about 4-5 sentences to recap, and I always include 3 things I’m grateful for.
I sleep with an eye mask and ear plugs so I can totally tune out and focus on getting good, quality sleep. I always sleep with a crystal next to me, but the crystal varies depending on what I’m going through and what energy I need with me through the night. I usually place a piece of Lithium Quartz on my chest, or I snuggle up with a Selenite Wand. Pro-tip: a crystal will keep you cool if you happen to get hot at night! It’s like having a personal air conditioner that doubles as a stress-reliever.
