Olivia Landau is the Founder & CEO of The Clear Cut, a direct-to-consumer diamond engagement ring and jewelry company. The Clear Cut is an alum of the prestigious startup program Techstars, and its focus isn’t a surprise, given Olivia’s extensive background in fine jewelry. She is a fourth-generation diamond expert and a GIA graduate gemologist with experience at Tiffany & Co, as well as the wholesale diamond business. Before becoming a fast-growing company that Olivia runs with her boyfriend (and fellow diamond expert), The Clear Cut started as an educational blog for friends and family. Nowadays, the brand has thousands of fans from across the globe and has been featured in publications such as Business Insider, Vogue, and TechCrunch. Perhaps the most interesting part of this business is the fact that it is truly a direct-to-consumer brand with an engaged community that was actively involved in the development of The Clear Cut’s first collection. Are you scrolling through their array of lust-worthy rings yet? Below, this founder shares her typical nightly routine after a long day at the office.
30 P.M. Usually around this time I’m finishing up my last in-person diamond engagement ring appointment of the day. At The Clear Cut, we work as your personal diamond concierge, creating one-of-a-kind engagement rings and fine jewelry pieces. We have remote appointments with clients from all over the world, and have in-person appointments with local clients in our NYC showroom throughout the day. Once our last appointment is done, and all the jewels are stored away, we work on any last emails we can crank out before the office closes.
P.M. After I leave the office, I fight through a swarm of people to get home from Rockefeller Center. Once I make it out alive, I try to fit in a workout class as often as I possibly can. I’m currently in love with pilates and megaformer classes – specifically BodyRok and SLT. I love these classes because they’re shorter (40-55min) and super intense! I’ve also been seeing really great results from them.
00 P.M. After my workout, I usually treat myself to a homemade dinner! I LOVE cooking! I find it to be both a great stress reliever and a creative outlet. I have a weak spot for pasta and anything cheesy (which kind of counteracts my workout – oops!), so recently I’ve been experimenting with a lot of paleo and low-carb recipes. My current favorites are Zucchini Noodle Bolognese and anything with cauliflower rice! I think I’m getting pretty good because my bf, Kyle, loves all my new recipes (or so he says…).
30 P.M. Kyle and I always have dinner at our dining room table. Although we spend all day together working at The Clear Cut, we try to use this time to talk about other things aside from work. However, we inevitably end up talking almost exclusively about work (#entrepreneurlife).
00 P.M. After dinner, I get to relax while Kyle cleans the dishes! I usually like to put on a Korean sheet mask – my favorite is the Mediheal Vita Lightbeam Essential mask for brightening. While I have my mask on I like to watch an episode (or two) of my guilty pleasure reality shows. I basically love anything Bravo!
00 P.M. Time to shower and get ready for bed! I love taking a nice hot shower just before bed because it helps me get a deeper sleep. After I get out of the shower, I use Tony Moly Ferment Timeless Snail Toner, and drench my face in my favorite Klairs Freshly Juice Vitamin C serum. I also put this on the tops of my hands to keep them nice and young looking! – gotta have them looking fresh for my daily ring selfies! I finish my nightly beauty routine with Benton’s Snail Bee High Content Cream (can you tell I love K-Beauty???).
30 P.M. Before I go to bed I like to drop some lavender essential oil into my Muji Aroma Diffuser/ humidifier. This not only helps me get to sleep faster, but also keeps the room from getting too dry in the winter months!
00 P.M. Lights out! And then I like to turn on the local news for a few minutes because it is guaranteed to make me fall asleep!
