It’s Dr. Sharon Haramati’s job to keep women pumped. The cofounder and co-creator of MyMilk Labs has a mission to make new motherhood easier, especially when it comes to breastfeeding. She’s helped develop digital guides, smartphone apps, and even a new device called MyLee that scans a few drops of breastmilk and reports back on its contents, giving parents an easy way to track which nutrients go directly to their babies. Here’s how Dr. Sharon does it without going bonkers.
30 P.M. I try to be home for dinner with my 8-year-old and 4-year-old at least 3 evenings a week. My daughter is really into fresh vegetables, which is awesome. We’ll have those with eggs, cheese and whole wheat bread. Sometimes I’ll make pasta, tuna salad, or oatmeal. We have occasional pizza nights, and the kids love making homemade pizza as well. We all drink only water at home, and I try to be mindful of hydrating throughout the day.
00 P.M. We have our family dinner and talk about our days. I’m trying to implement a nice routine I heard Sara Blakely discuss in an interview a while back, asking my 8-year-old, “What did we fail at today?” Because we grow, get motivation, and learn from our failures. We should embrace failure rather than shy away from it!
30 P.M. It’s the kids’ shower time. I either keep it fast and practical, or I let them have some screen-free play time. Then we cuddle, and we do bedtime stories. Usually my 8-year-old will read her own books in a different room, while I read to my 4-year-old two books of his choice. But sometimes, my daughter still enjoys us reading together.
30 P.M. Bedtime for the kids. They share a room, and I actually stay by the kids’ beds until they fall asleep… It can sometimes be frustrating, but I usually enjoy this quiet time together. (This is usually also the time that my husband or I get home from work when the other, or the babysitter, is at home with the kids!)
00 P.M. I’m taking care of any work-related issues that came up since I got home. A lot of our work is global, which necessitates we be available around the clock. As entrepreneurs, the work really never ends. I try to spend the hours with the kids uninterrupted, but I must admit this is difficult sometimes. About twice a month, my husband and I get a late grownup dinner at home, or we’ll have dinner and drinks out with friends.
00-11:00 P.M. Preparing for bed, I take a fast shower. I keep my skincare routine fairly basic, and it takes about five minutes. I start with Clinique’s Take Off the Day balm; I massage it onto my dry face to remove any makeup. I remove the balm with water, and then I wash my face with Clinique’s mild liquid facial soap. Then I finish it off with a drugstore moisturizer (at the moment I’m loving the Cetaphil Nighttime moisturizer). Sometimes, I indulge with eye cream samples [from the Clinique counter].
00-12:00 P.M. Sometimes I’ll watch Netflix with my husband before falling asleep. (We recently did Wild Wild Country, which is a must!). I take a 3 mile morning run every day, so I try to have a full 6.5 hours of sleep before my alarm goes off at 6am.
