Ashley Brooke is the Editor and Creative Director of Ashley Brooke Designs, a beauty and lifestyle blog she started back in 2009. Ashley’s career began as an interior designer just ahead of the 2008 recession, which made employment in that field all but impossible. So, she took a huge risk and decided to learn an entirely new skill set–Photoshop retouch and design. One thing led to another, and Ashley’s design blog quickly turned into a successful gift product and stationery brand that has been sold in 600 stores across the US. Wondering how this design boss ends her day? Keep scrolling to find out.
30 P.M. I’m wrapping up my workday! End of the day e-mails, one last run-through of the next day’s blog post, and making my to-do list for the next morning. This is my favorite part of the work day, setting myself up for success for the morning. I always sleep so much better knowing I have done this!
P.M. Start cooking dinner! Most weeknights we eat at home. My husband and I enjoy cooking together and it’s our time to talk about the day, sip red wine, and take our pup on a walk while dinner simmers on the stove. I truly look forward to this time with him.
P.M. We’ve usually just sat down to eat. I try to get dinner on the table well before 8, but, let’s be real, that rarely happens! Also, I kind of love our 8:00 dinners. My two favorite recipes of the moment are Cobb Snob Salad and Salmon Poke Bowl.
30 P.M. We are cleaning up the kitchen and running through our schedules for the next day. After dinner, we will typically check our inboxes and shoot out another few e-mails before shutting it officially down for the night!
30 P.M. Around 9 I’m tidying up the house, laying out my gym clothes for the morning and getting Dolly our puppy all situated for the evening. The products I use are Kiehl’s Ultra Face WashFresh Beauty Rose TonerGlow ProGlow Recipe Watermelon Face Mask or Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil and Aveda Eye CreamI try my best to be settled around 9:30, meaning pajamas on and book in hand!
30 P.M. If I’m not already in bed at this point I’m practically asleep standing up. My husband and I are both early risers and that 5:15 A.M. alarm comes early!
